Skincare Infused Makeup

If there has been one slow-to-grow beauty trend that has really sparked my interest, it is skincare infused makeup. It is the beauty hybrid I never knew I needed.

When I was younger, I would shovel makeup on without a care in the world for my skin. I would regularly avoid cleansing before bed but, by some miracle, would never suffer the consequences. Sadly times have changed and, since hitting my thirties, prolonged makeup wear causes my skin to become dry, irritated, and dull.

Now more than ever I need skincare infused makeup - products that cover, correct, and enhance, all while benefitting my skin through enriching ingredients. Here are some of my favourites...

Weekly Worship: Barry M, BUXOM and Maybelline

I'm a sucker for an eye shadow palette and Barry M's latest is no exception. It is called the Treasure Chest and it's so good, you won't believe it cost just £12.99 (feelunique.com). Treasure chest is made up of 18 matte and metallic shades, ranging from a rich burgundy and metallic silver, to a shimmer peach and pastel lilac. The pigments are strong and impactful and the velvety texture of the shadows make application and blending an absolute dream. The shadows also have impressive lasting power - both in the palette and on the eyes!

What's The Beau(Tee)? | Lancome Launch Teint Idole Ultra Wear Lifeproof Collection

Lancôme is one of just a handful of cosmetics brands offering up a truly wide foundation shade range. The foundation in question is the Teint Idole Ultra Wear and it is available in 40 different shades. It was a huge successful for the brand, and rightly-fucking-so (I'm a huge fan - you can see my review here). So successful, in fact, that it was inspiration for the cosmetic giant's new collection, Teint Idole Ultra Wear Lifeproof.

What's The Beau(Tee)? | RuPaul To Launch Makeup Collection

Now I know what you're thinking, "She done already done had herses". After all, RuPaul was the first face of MACs VIVA GLAM campaign back in 1994. However, let's be real, that wasn't a true makeup collection and it's very existence has only helped wet our appetite for more...

Weekly Worship | bareMinerals, Buxom, NeoStrata & Skyn Iceland

After a few months of congested skin, I've been focusing on cleansing correctly. I now double cleanse my skin every night - regardless or whether I'm wearing much makeup. My first cleanse is done with the bareMinerals Total Cleansing Oil (£22 feelunique.com) - a miracle makeup remover that takes everything off in a matter of seconds. Unlike other cleansing oils I'm used to, this one has a beautiful aromatherapy scent that helps get you relaxed and ready for bed. A surprisingly small amount of product is needed per use and the oil rinses off easily and completely, ensuring that no nasty residue is left behind. For my second cleanse, I use my favourite Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser (£24.99 feelunique.com).

What's The Beau(Tee)? | Ardell Introduces Makeup Collection

I've said it before and I'll goddamn say it again, Ardell is the ultimate false lash brand. There are a wide range of styles, at affordable prices, and every lash band is thin and flexible - making application easy and the finished look more natural. My love for the 45-year-old brand is so strong, that I've always longed for (and if I'm honest, expected) Ardell to launch a full makeup range. Luckily for me, and the entire world, I'm now able to tell you that my wishes have come true. Ardell has a makeup collection and it is available right now...

Behind The Brand | Nudestix

Date of Birth: 2014

Founding Mothers: Jenny, Taylor and Ally Frankel

History: Nudestix is an innovative beauty brand that was the brainchild of sisters Ally and Taylor Frankel... when they were just teenagers (before Kylie Jenner, I should add!). The girls were fans of effortless, natural looking makeup. They longed for colour cosmetics that accentuated their best features, rather than make them look overdone or artificial, so they set out creating their own.

Behind The Brand | Too Faced

Date of Birth: 1998

Founding Fathers: Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson

History: Jerrod and Jeremy's love affair with cosmetics began when they both started working on makeup counters - Jerrod for Estee Lauder, Armani and Chanel and Jeremy for Estee Lauder. It was through working one-on-one with clients that enabled both boys to see the transformative power makeup had on women. This inspired them to create there own cosmetics line but, unlike the ones that existed in the late 90's, Jerrod and Jeremy wanted to create a brand that broke the rules, brought femininity back to cosmetics and injected fun into the industry.

Behind The Brand | Make Up For Ever

Date of Birth: 1984

Founding Mother: Dany Sanz

History: Dany Sanz's career started out in the world of art - working as a painter and sculptor, however it wasn't until she helped friends do full body makeup for a show that the idea of Make Up For Ever began. Considering theatrical makeup to be a means of artistic expression in itself, Sanz perfected the art of body painting. She became famous for her body paintings and these creations eventually caught the eye of professionals worldwide. Being a professor at heart, this recognition caused Sanz to create the first professional makeup school in Europe in the 70's. It was a huge success, thanks to the quality of Sanz's teaching, her nourishing of students and her amazing makeup techniques.

Behind The Brand: Rouge Bunny Rouge

Date of Birth: 2005

Founder: Alexandra De Montfort

History: Alexandra De Montfort, the founder and creative director of Rouge Bunny Rouge, always saw beauty and cosmetics as vehicle for play, allowing women to create a persona that they could present to the world. "Make-up is intimate, make -up is emotive; I believe it is not about a trend or new hue or shade, it is not about imposing a look or even dictating a style. It is about a signature and ultimately create elegance, a level of confidence and a way to express yourself" Alexandra has said.
