Skin Concerns | Age Spots

Age spots (often referred to as liver spots) are flat brown spots that begin to appear on the skin as you age. They can also be black or grey in colour and appear on the sun-exposed areas of the body, including the face, shoulders, back of hands, and upper chest.

What The F*** Is Squalane?

Squalane is a derivative of squalene, a powerful natural substance that is found in olives, rice bran, wheat germ and palm trees. Importantly, squalene is also found naturally in our blood and skin, blessing us with protection and hydration. At birth, about 12% of our skin surface is made of squalene. However sadly its production begins to decline rapidly in our mid-to-late twenties. By 50, squalene production drops below 5%. Squalane is derived from squalene through a process called hydrogenation; this process increases its shelf life and makes it more stable.

An In-Flight Skincare Manual For Mask Wearers

A good in-flight skincare routine is key for keeping skin fresh, hydrated, and healthy during and after a long-haul flight. However, as face coverings are now mandatory on-board all aircrafts, even the best in-flight skincare routine has been compromised. This is because wearing a face mask for long periods of time can lead to inflammation, redness, irritation, and breakouts...

Are Night Creams Necessary?

Whether night creams work or not is an age old questions asked by most women. The main thought being, do we have to use one specifically designed for nighttime use? Why can't we just use our normal day cream?

Review | Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50

When it comes to facial sun protection, I won't apply anything less than SPF 50 on my face, mainly because I want the protection to last as long as possible. However, it is very difficult to find a facial product containing SPF 50 that doesn't dry out my skin, feel uncomfortable or heavy, or leave a horrible white or grey film behind. I was recently sent Murad's City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 to try and had my reservations. Like I said, a good SPF 50 is a rare gem... but it turns out this Murad product is one of them.

Save Face: The Best Facial SPFs

We all know that a quality SPF is one of the most important skincare products you can own, and that applying one is one is an essential step in any skincare routine. SPF not only protects the skin from short and long term damage, it also helps prevent premature aging. The problem is, as crucial as SPF is, slapping any old SPF on your face isn't always the answer.

As with face masks, serums, and face creams, we need to ensure we're using the right SPF based on our skin type or skin concerns. Below is a selection of great SPFs that should (hopefully) tick somebody's skincare box.

Review: Murad Revitalixir™ Recovery Serum

When it comes to skincare products, if I see the world 'recovery' imma be interested. Skin health is always a top priority and, now spring is in full effect, if I want to go makeup free, I need a little complexion confidence.

Sadly, there are too many things that effect skin health; sun exposure, hormones, pollution, weather, aesthetic treatments, and (always surprisingly) stress. So I believe that having a few skin healers in your beauty cabinet couldn't be more important. One of the newest(ish) on the market is the Murad Revitalixir™ Recovery Serum...

Let's Talk... Resurfacing

If you've been noticing the word 'resurfacing' popping up lately and don't know what the fuck it means, don't worry. To keep things simple, it's an ever-so-slightly more hardcore version of exfiolation.

As with your typical exfoliation products, resurfacing products work to remove the very top layers of the skin to deeply cleanse the skin, increase collagen production, brighten the skin, treat hyper-pigmentation and reduce minor scarring.
