The Tuesday Tip: Get Beach Waves Without Tongs Or Straighteners

schwarzkopf-got2b-beach-matt-texturizing-salt-spray-review

If there is one staple hairstyle this summer, it is beach waves. Girls with naturally curly hair master this gorgeous look easily and quickly. Luckily, stylist Peter Lux has shared a quick tip on how to create beautiful beach waves, without using them...

Weekly Worship: Prismologie Indigo Interlude Massage Candle

Prismologie Indigo Interlude Massage Candle Review

Price: £55.00 200g

Stockists: Space NK

When it came to massage candles, I couldn't have been more inexperienced in using them. I'm the girl who, up until recently, wasn't sure how they even worked. I was confused as to how you massage the melted liquid onto the skin, without burning it or covering it in a crumbly, waxy mess. So, I thought it was about time I lost my massage candle virginity. A few weeks ago, I picked up the Indigo Interlude Massage Candle from Prismologie; a natural soy and beeswax candle that melts into a warm massage oil. It is created with an aromatic oud that smells absolutely gorgeous and evokes feelings of calmness and serenity - a must when massaging.

The Beauty Myth: Vaseline Makes Eyelashes Grow Faster, Longer & Thicker

APOT.CARE Optilash Lash Enhancing Serum

False. There is just no scientific proof that Vaseline makes eyelashes grow longer or thicker. The only thing Vaseline will give your lashes is a glossy finish, however this comes at a price. The price is your eye health, as applying petroleum jelly to your lashes can clogg the glands in the inner rim of your eye, leading to a painful and seriously ugly infection.

Review: Red Door Spa Union Square, NYC

Review: Red Door Spa Union Square

I have always been a fan of Elizabeth Arden. Not just because the brand was founded by an inspiring, ambitious and creative woman, but because it continues - after over 100 years - to create beautiful products and gorgeous skincare treatments. I recently visited New York and one of my top priorities was to visit the Red Door Spa, Elizabeth Arden's spa and beauty boutique in the heart of Union Square. So I booked an appointment and prepared to tick something off my beauty bucket list...luckily, my experience did not disappoint.

Weekly Worship: Sparkle Collagen Peptide Supplement

I have been using (and loving) the Sparkle Collagen Peptide Supplement so much, that a review alone just isn't enough; this collagen-boosting supplement needs a space in the spotlight.

Sparkle Collagen Peptide Supplement Review

Sparkle is an American supplement brand with a focus on beauty-from-within and wellness. I got my hands on the brand's Collagen Peptide Supplement during a recent trip to NYC. I loved that it came in powder form, as opposed to tablet. As childish as it sounds, I really struggle taking tablet supplements. They are so big that I find them difficult and uncomfortable to swallow. So when I spotted this orange-flavoured powder supplement, I just had to have it. I was also swayed by its impressive ingredients list that includes two hero ingredients; VERISOL® Collagen Peptides, that boost skin's collagen levels and hyaluronic acid, that hydrate skin and retain moisture.

Ingredients 101: Seaweed Extract

As unpleasant as it looks and smells, seaweed packs some seriously amazing hair benefits. It works such wonders on the hair, that it's about time I explored this sea-based saviour!

Natural or Synthetic: Natural

Origin: Seaweed is a multicellular marine algae that lives near the seabed. It can belong to one of several groups of multicellular algae: green algae, brown algae or red algae.

Location: Seaweeds are found throughout the world's oceans. However, when it comes to commercial cultivation, Indonesia and the Philippines produce most of the world's seaweed.

The Beauty Myth: Nail Polish Can Turn Nails Yellow

The Verdict: True

Sadly the rumor that some nail polishes turn nails yellow is one hundred percent true. Some nail polishes contain certain coloured pigments that can leave a nasty yellow stain on fingernails; darker toned polishes are usually the main culprits! The best way to stop the staining is to apply a base coat to the nails before applying nail polish. A good base coat will act as a protective barrier between the nail and the polish.

As for base coats, I use the Treat Base Coat 15ml ($18.00 treatcollection.com) as it dries quickly and protects my nails perfectly. As with all Treat polishes, the brand's base coat is '5-free'; free of formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, dibutyl phthalate and camphor. highly pigmented, easy to apply and gorgeously glossy.
