The Tuesday Tip: Budget Brow Lift

By now you are probably very familiar with the standard eyebrow lifting trick. You know, the one where you apply highlighter under the arch of the eyebrow to make eyebrows appear higher and eyes look brighter. Well you can actually lift the brow even more by applying highlighter above the brow!

All you need to do is blend a tiny amount of highlighter above the eyebrows - just past the arch. You can use any type of highlighter, however I am obsessed with the Illamasqua's Gleam in Aurora (£22.00 illamasqua.com / $24.90 beautybay.com). It is an ultra lightweight cream highlighter that provides the most gorgeous champagne shimmer. It blends perfectly and looks amazing on every skin tone!

The Tuesday Tip: Narrow Your Nose

To make a large or wide nose appear smaller, all you need to do is reach for the highlighter!

After applying your foundation, swipe a light highlighter down the centre of the bridge of your nose, in the straightest line possible. The contrast of colour between the highlighter and foundation will make the sides of your nose appear darker, which will in turn make the nose appear narrower. The nose will look even smaller if you blend a tiny amount of bronzer or contour on either side of the nose. When done, be sure to set the look with translucent powder to ensure everything stays in place.

The Cover FX  Illuminator is an illuminating powder that gives skin the most beautiful, natural glow. It has a soft finish and a lightweight texture that it easily blendable. It is these qualities that prevent the Illuminator looking harsh or too shiny on the skin.

However, what really makes the Cover FX  Illuminator so amazing is that, when applied, it enables certain flaws (such as acne, redness or pigmentation) to go unnoticed. It is by far the best illuminating powder I have ever used...I'm hooked!

The Collection: Fall 2013 Fairytale Collection

The Review: If Sleeping Beauty actually existed, I'm convinced this eye colour set would've had pride of place on her dressing table. Beautifully packaged in a fairytale book inspired box, the set comprises of a Snow White cream eye colour, a Dusty Rose eyeshadow and Sparkling Silver pigment.

Snow White (1g) is a metallic white cream eye colour that makes the perfect highlighter. It is sheer and has a smooth, blendable texture that is great for use on the cheekbones and lips, as well as the eyes.

Dusty Rose (1g) is a golden pink shimmery eyeshadow that seems to change colour under different lighting. It is not the most pigmented eyeshadow I've ever used and it doesn't have the best staying power, however the colour is really beautiful.

Sparkling Silver (1.5g) is an amazing silvery white pigment. It has really good pigmentation and great staying power, especially when used with a mixing medium. Sparkling Silver can also be applied over another eyeshadow to enhance the colour and really make it stand out.

The Pro: Although advertised as an eye colour set, Fairytale is really the perfect highlighting kit. It can take you from subtle shimmer to striking sparkle.

The Con: The Dusty Rose eyeshadow lacks any real staying power, however using a setting spray would help the colour last a little longer.
