Brush Yourself Beautiful

Every year new beauty trends emerge that shake up our beauty routines. Sometimes for the worst and sometimes for the fucking better. The big skincare trend for 2017 isn't actually new, but instead part of an ancient Indian practice known as Ayurveda. The trend is facial brushing (or Garshana, to be precise) and it's bomb.

Developed over 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda is based on the principle that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. It promotes a daily wellness routine and Garshana is a big part of that routine.

Garshana works like a gentle exfoliating technique, removing dry, dull cells from skin's surface. As we know, regular exfoliation helps support natural cellular turnover and promote smooth, softer skin. Exfoliation also enables skincare products to better penetrate the skin...and who doesn't love deeper penetration!? Dry brushing also eliminates toxins and other impurities from the skin, helping to reveal a radiant, glowing complexion...

Taking inspiration from Garshana, Aveda has just launched the Tulasāra™ Facial Dry Brush (£27.00 aveda.co.uk / $44.00 aveda.com). This new tool features an oval-shaped brush head to enable you to reach all areas of the face, as well as ultra-soft bristles formed in rounded, massaging peaks to really get that blood flowing. Using the brush is simple and doing so regularly helps keep skin, healthy, smooth and more radiant. I'm fangirl confirmed.
