Review: OPI Tokyo Collection

I'm a nail polish addict - my current collection stands at just under 200 bottles and continues to grow. So I'm always excited to see a new nail polish collection drop. However I do have one small issue with most collections - they are either made up of very similar shades or contain a few wild card shades that I could never wear (unless I'm going to a costume party or experiencing a quarter-life crisis). However OPI recently launched its SS19 collection and every single shade is gorgeous.

The new Tokyo Collection is made up of 12 vibrant shades inspired by Japan's capital. As with all OPI collections, the shades are available in either the Nail Lacquer, Infinite Shine, or GelColor formula. I tested the classic formula as my acrylic overlays and Seche Vive Gel Top Coat help even the basic of polishes shine for the Gods. As expected, the Nail Lacquer has the perfect consistency. It applies smoothly and evenly, sets quickly, and has some real lasting power.

Tokyo is at the forefront of fashion, beauty, and nail art, so it's no surprise the world's most populous metropolis is the inspiration behind OPI's latest collection. To create the 12 shades, the brand played with Tokyo's unique balance of rich tradition and nature, mixed with eclectic fashion, vibrant nightlife, and world-renowned cuisine.

The 12 shades include:

  • Rice Rice Baby - creamy mauve pink
  • Another Ramen-tic Evening - dusty pink
  • Arigato from Tokyo - classic pink
  • Hurry-juku Get This Color! - berry pink
  • All Your Dreams in Vending Machines - shimmery electric pink
  • Samurai Breaks a Nail - shimmery purple
  • How Does Your Zen Garden Grow? - lime green
  • I'm On a Sushi Roll - sea green
  • Suzi-san Climbs Fuji-san - greeny blue
  • Tempura-ture is Rising! - orange
  • Kanpai OPI! - baby blue
  • Chopstix and Stones - deep shimmer blue

Below are swatches of each shade. Each nail has two coats of OPI and one coat of Seche Vive Gel Top Coat (£10.95
