Beauty Myth | Drinking Water Hydrates Skin

Although it may shock you, the idea that drinking water hydrates the skin is completely false! There is absolutely no medical or scientific evidence to suggest that drinking water directly hydrates the skin. Now drinking water is incredibly important for overall health, so keep sipping! Just don't be fooled into thinking any of those eight glasses a day are going straight to your skin.

If you are suffering from dry skin and need a quick fix, reach for hydrating skincare instead of a glass of water. After showing with warm water (hot water will only make the problem worse!), apply a good serum or moisturiser onto the skin within three minutes. This will not only hydrate the skin but lock in the moisture absorbed from the shower.

When it comes to which type of product to use, I recommend serums as they deliver optimum performance directly to the cells beneath the surface of the skin. My current favourite hydrating serum is Glow Hub's The Hydration Hero (£14 beautybay.com).

Designed to be used in the morning or evening (or both if you're super dehydrated), this lightweight serum features three different types of hyaluronic acid that work to hydrate every layer of the skin. Polyglutamic acid is included for its larger molecular structure that creates a weightless film across the upper layer of the skin, locking in 4x more moisture than hyaluronic acid! Glycerin is also included for its ability to draw water into the skin. These three hero ingredients work together to hydrate and soothe the skin, delivering a plumper, brighter, and replenished complexion.

The Hydration Hero is vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, and suitable for all skin types, especially dry and dehydrated.
