A Mum's Guide to Mother's Day Gifting

If you're anything like me, your mum is one of your best friends. However, as close as you may be to your mum, finding a good Mother's Day gift can sometimes be a little challenging. Mums have different tastes and daughters have various budgets, so there are a thousand different treats you can gift your mum.

To give you a little inspiration, my own mum has put together a Mother's Day gift guide because, well, who knows what to get a mum for Mother's Day better than a mum? So, over to Bridget...

Delilah Colour Intense Lipstick in Tango

The first recommendation is makeup or nail polish, as both are great for daughters on a budget. A single makeup product or nail polish won't cost the earth but it will gets us mums excited. There is nothing like a new lippie or gorgeous nail colour to cheer us up! I love the Colour Intense Lipstick in Tango (£24.00 delilahcosmetics.com) from new British beauty brand Delilah. The Colour Blush in Clementine (£26.00 delilahcosmetics.com) is also gorgeous and would look lovely on just about any skintone.

When it comes to nails, these Deborah Lippmann polishes from the brand's new Whisper collection are pretty and perfectly on trend. The above colours are Like Dreamers Do 15ml (£16.00 lookfantastic.com / $18.00 deborahlippmann.com), a sheer pale bisque shade, and A Fine Romance 15ml (£16.00 lookfantastic.com / $18.00 deborahlippmann.com), a sheer pearly champagne shade.

If you have a bigger budget, you could always splash out on a makeup palette. However, if you do, be sure to choose a palette full of wearable colours. I do love makeup palettes, but it's rare to find one that isn't packed with colours that go unused. One of the best palettes I've ever come across is the Urban Decay Naked Palette (£38.00 urbandecay.co.uk / $54.00 Sephora). It contains 12 beautiful bronze-hued shadows that flatter all skintones.

If you want to go down the traditional gift route, I recommend a beautiful fragrance, in the form of either a perfume, candle or diffuser. You can't go wrong with a classic eau de toilette like Ghost The Fragrance 50ml (£33.50 theperfumeshop.com / $50.00 escentual.com). It is a light and fresh scent that contains notes of rose, jasmine, amber, peach and sandalwood.

I am also a huge fan of candles and, if your mum is anything like me, she'll love them too. A quality candle will transform any living space and provide the perfect atmosphere for a good pampering session. I was recently gifted the Birch & Brook Dressing Room candle (£36 birchandbrook.co.uk) for my birthday and I've been hooked since the first burn. It is a floral and fruity fragrance that contains deep berry top notes with shimmering rose, violet and peony at its heart.

I also love Ecoya candles. The Sweet Pea and Jasmine Madison Jar Candle 400g (£39.99 Liberty) is a particular favourite. It smells absolutely gorgeous and leaves its amazing scent in a room long after the candles been put out.

Skincare products also make great gifts, whether they come in a set or stand alone. If you want to keep things affordable, I recommend the Burt's Bees Fabulously Fresh Collection (£20.00 burtsbees.co.uk / $27.88 feelunique.com). It contains the gorgeous smelling Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash, the ultra-nourishing Peppermint Foot Lotion and the much-loved Beeswax Lip Balm.

I also rate the Emma Hardie Moringa Balm Set (£36.00 M&S). It includes three pots of the brand's much-loved Moringa Cleansing Balm, as well as three amazing cleansing cloths. The Moringa Cleansing balm is not only perfect at deeply cleansing the skin, it makes a great facemask and spot treatment.

If you'd rather keep things simple, a single, results-focused product would make a great gift - especially if your mum is into anti-ageing. The latest product on my dressing table is the Indeed Laboratories Fillume Volumising Moisturiser 30ml (£24.99 Boots). This lightweight moisturiser provides skin with an instant boost and a blast of hydration. Now it won't work anti-ageing miracles, however your mum will see her pores and fine lines become less visible the more she uses it!

Now, if you really fancy treating your mum, you could gift her the new Environ Revival Masque 50ml (£49.95 Harvey Nichols). This mask is seriously amazing and only a tiny amount of it is needed to see great results. It leaves my skin a little brighter, smoother and firmer after each use and the longer I use it, the better my skin becomes.

Finally, for daughters who want to blow the budget and really treat their mum, I recommend investing in her skin health by buying her the Clarisonic Mia 2 (£125.00 Debenhams / $149.00 Sephora)! This little device works wonders on the skin, keeping it ultra clean, smooth and bright. It also helps to remove blackheads, treat acne and reduce the appearance of pores. I love it!!
