The Holy Toning Trinity

Having recently bleached my hair blonde, I finally understand the importance of a good purple toner. It's very easy for bleached hair to go brassy and yellow, so using products that help neutralise the colour and add brightness couldn't be more important. Two of the best products you can use to removing brassy tones and maintaining a brilliant blonde colour are a purple shampoo and purple conditioner. There are many on the market but the three I use to get my locks light and brass-free are as follows...

Bleach London Silver Shampoo

Bleach London's famous cleansing toner is an ash-toned highly pigmented shampoo that works to illuminate yellow tones from the hair. It also helps to moisturise your hair, thanks to the wheat proteins and vitamin B5 in its formula.

Although it's designed for use as a shampoo, I use the Bleach London Silver Shampoo (£6.50 Boots) as a colour treatment, either after bleaching or every other month when my colour goes a little yellow. I just apply it to damp hair, leave it on for 5-10 minutes, and rinse it out. It works every time.

EVO Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Toning Shampoo

When it comes to the best purple shampoo for cleansing my hair, EVO's Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Toning Shampoo is a clear winner. It gently cleanses the hair while neutralising unwanted brassy and yellow tones. It does a perfect job at keeping my locks bright and perfectly toned. It also helps soften and strengthen my hair, as well as prevent colour fading!

The Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Toning Shampoo (£20 evohairstore.com) smells amazing and is vegan and cruelty free. It is also free from sulfates, parabens, and gluten.

OGX Hydrate & Tone Reviving+ Lavender Luminescent Platinum Conditioner

As for my favourite purple conditioner, I'm always reaching for the OGX Hydrate & Tone Reviving+ Lavender Luminescent Platinum Conditioner (£6.99 Superdrug). It reduces brassiness while also brightening blonde tones and hydrating the hair.

The sulphate free formula includes lavender oil, chamomile extract, and sun filters to protect from UV damage, help enhance shine, brighten blonde hues, and revitalise colour. It is easy to apply, rinses with no residue, and leaves my hair feeling super soft.
