The bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating SPF25 Foundation Stick is not your typical foundation stick. It claims to be the first clean, water-based liquid foundation in stick form, so I had to review it...

I've never been a fan of foundation sticks. I know I may be alone in my views, however I've always found them hard to apply - they drag on the skin and don't blend easily. They also feel very drying on my skin and leave a heavy, cakey feeling on my face. Not good.

However, bareMinerals new foundation stick is formulated with over 30% mineral water, red algae, and olive-derived squalane to guarantee a effortless application and weightless feel - not to forget a boost of hydration to the skin. I love applying this foundation. It glides onto the skin beautifully and, no matter the number layers, never gets cakey or feels heavy on the skin. It provides a natural dewy finish and a medium coverage that is buildable. In fact, I often apply this foundation stick on top of makeup that was applied hours before, especially when I'm in need of a top-up or I suffer a mishap and need to conceal asap! When I do this, the foundation builds and blends beautifully with the existing layer - so long as I haven't applied a power!

The shade - Birch 1.5 - matches my skin perfectly and stays consistent throughout a day of wear.

The only downside to this foundation is the same downside you'll get with any stick foundation - you get less product for your money when compared with liquid foundations. Most liquid foundations provide 30ml worth of product in their bottles, triple the amount found in a stick. However, on saying that, liquid foundations will never beat stick foundations when it comes to convenience!

The bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Hydrating SPF25 Foundation Stick is available in 20 shades, at feelunique.com, for £29.00.
