Spring is coming...ish and with it comes my seasonal scent planning. I'm a fragrance fan girl that always wants to smell good...even if I'm at home in food-stained sweat pants, wearing no makeup and rocking a Britney-esque topknot. There are hundreds of fragrance launches each year, so creating the perfect scent edit can get a little tricky. However I've managed to find a few favourites...
First up is a fragrance from one of the worlds greatest bad bitches, Rihanna. The singer released her new Kiss fragrance at the start of this year and I think it's her best so far. Kiss (from £22.00 Superdrug / $20.00 Macy's) is a floral feminine scent that contains top notes of neroli, plum and freesia, heart notes of orange blossom, gardenia and Asian peony and base notes of cashmere wood, cedarwood and ambergris.
Next up is the new Gucci Bamboo Limited Edition (from £68.00 Boots / $94.00 gucci.com) scent and it comes in one of the dopest fragrance bottles I've seen in a loooonnnng time. This eau de parfum contains top notes of bergamot, heart notes of casablanca lily, ylang ylang and orange blossom and base notes of Tahitian vanilla, sandalwood and ambergris. It is a captivating woody floral scent that stays on the skin for hours...even if only a tiny amount is applied.
If you're a big floral fragrance fan, you will want to get antiquated with the new Narciso Rodriguez Fleur Musc (from £39.00 feelunique.com / $97.00 Macy's). It is a long-lasting eau de parfum that features top notes of pink pepper, middle notes of rose, peony and musk and base notes of amber, patchouli and violet. According to the designer himself, “Fleur Musc represents a bold, passionate femininity; it’s a fragrance that evokes charm and grace”, and he couldn't be more accurate; it only took two sprays for me to fall completely in love with this perfume.
Clean Reserve Citron Fig (£79.00 Space NK / $95.00 Sephora) is the most interesting fragrance in my spring scent edit. Containing top notes of fig, ginger and lemon oil, heart notes of cardamom, mandarin, mint and copaiba and base notes of sandalwood, cedar wood and musk, Citron Fig makes for a captivating and truly unique scent. This eau de parfum is the creation of famous perfumer Richard Herpin and was inspired by a "a free-spirited confidence that awakens when you realize your true potential".
My final favourite is the Jimmy Choo L'eau (from £36.00 Debenhams / $78.00 jimmychoo.com). Containing top notes of hibiscus and bergamot, heart notes of nectarine and peony and base notes of cedar and musk, L'eau is a more delicate take on the brand's first fragrance, Jimmy Choo. The scent was created by Juliette Karagueuzoglou, the perfumer behind Viktor&Rolf Sparkling Secret, YSL Tuxedo and Penhaligon`s Savoy Steam. It is a floral and fruity fragrance that has great lasting power...impressive when you consider it's only an eau de toilette.
