The Tuesday Tip: Get Maximum Moisture

tip-get-maximum-moisture

Achieving maximum moisture isn't always easy. There are times when, no matter how many creams or serums you apply, your skin doesn't seem to absorb moisture, let alone retain it! Luckily there is one ingredient you can always depend on to hydrate and moisturise the skin. I'm talking about honey...

Honey is a natural humectant - which means it draws water from the dermis and helps to keep that water bound in the outermost layer of the skin. In simple terms it attracts and retains moisture, so honey is your hero if you're in need of a moisture fix. You can either look out for products containing the ingredient, or you can apply honey directly to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes (as you would with any other mask). A honey mask does work wonders, however for speed, ease and cleanliness, I stick to using products that contain the miracle ingredient. Manuka honey is my honey of choice, as it contains powerful antibacterial and astringent properties. Like standard honey it provides amazing hydration, however it also helps to heal the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

My favourite manuka honey-packed products are the Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Restoring Night Cream 50ml (£16.66 Superdrug / $38.73 feelunique.com) and the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask (£19.78 beautybay.com / $35.63 feelunique.com).
