Review | Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial

If there is one type of skincare product I love, it's the type that contains chemical exfoliators. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for physical exfoliators that scrub away all your skin sins, however chemical exfoliators are just less messy and much more convenient. These things may not seem to matter all that much, however speed is key when you work and look after a little one.

The Ole Henriksen Transform Plus Phat Glow Facial is a massage-activated face mask that utilises chemical exfoliants. It is formulated with PHAs (polyhydroxy acids) - a gentle alternative to AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) - making it a win for those with sensitive skin. Like AHAs, PHAs exfoliate dead skin cells on the surface of the skin, encouraging even skin tone and texture, and enabling better absorption of other skincare products. Also included in the formulation is Nordic birch sap, which hydrates and purifies the skin and reduces inflammation.

The Phat Glow Facial is very thick and creamy but applies easily. To use it, I just spread it across my face and, once fully applied, massage it in using circular motions. This is the key to activating its skin benefits and you'll know its working as the mask will go from a gorgeous bubblegum pink to a creamy white.

The mask is surprisingly sticky, so much so that you'll want to avoid getting it on your clothes but it does rinse off and wipe away effortlessly. This texture and consistency was intentional too - the brand wanted to create a mask that didn't need you to chill for 10-15 minuets while it gets to work. For me, finding time to apply and remove a mask is difficult enough, so having one that allows me to get on with various tasks without it dripping or slipping is much appreciated. Oh and to be clear, it doesn't budge - this is a truly mess-free mask.

It has a moderately strong fragrance that reminds me of sherbet. Now I love this sugary scent but it might not be for everyone.

As for results, the expert team at Ole Henriksen weren't joking when they named this mask - it really delivers a PHAT glow and it does so instantly! Each time I use it, my skin is left looking healthy, gorgeous, and radiant. It's one of the best products I've ever used for radiance and it will forever have a place in my bathroom cabinet.

The Ole Henriksen Phat Glow Facial cost £42 (50ml) and is available at Boots
