Living Proof is one of my favourite haircare brands, so when I started to experience a flaky scalp a few months ago, I had to give the brand's relatively new Dry Scalp Treatment a try...
The Dry Scalp Treatment is the latest product in Living Proof's Restore range - a collection designed to treat dry and damaged hair, making it healthier and stronger. It is a leave-in scalp treatment that promises to deliver "instant hydration and lasting relief from dry scalp flaking, itching and irritation".
The treatment is formulated with a hyaluronic acid-based molecular patch that delivers instant soothing and sustained hydration to the scalp. It also features a vitamin B3 based microbiome - a balancing complex that promises to re-balance your scalp’s natural ecosystem for lasting relief.
Living Proof market this scalp treatment as fast absorbing and lightweight, and that is all the way accurate. The product is designed to be applied in sections throughout clean, damp, and de-tangled hair. You apply the treatment across six sections at the front of the scalp and four sections across the back, massaging it in afterwards. Living Proof advise that you apply the treatment three times a week and, if used correctly, you should start seeing an improvement after four weeks.
The Dry Scalp Treatment has a very thin consistency, much like a facial serum, and it blends into the scalp in under a minute, leaving nothing behind - no grease, no stickiness, no residue! Thankfully, it doesn't effect blow drying or styling. In fact, it feels so weightless on the scalp that you can't imagine it providing any benefit. Luckily, I can promise you it does. I began to see a reduction in flakiness after around three weeks of use and, now having used it for just under three months, I can say it completely cured my flaky scalp condition. I can't speak on the treatment's ability to prevent irritation and itching, as I've never experienced this, however I've read lots of reviews online saying it fixes it perfectly.
