The Beauty Myth: You Don’t Need To Use SPF During the Autumn & Winter Months

Beyond False. You always need a good SPF! Although the autumn and winter months are cold, damp and dark, UV rays are always hanging around and your skin will absorb them. UV rays are as harmful in the autumn and winter as they are in the spring and summer.

You are not even safe when it’s cloudy, as UV rays can penetrate cloud cover. If that isn't shocking enough, UV rays can be even more harmful in snowy conditions as snow is a great reflector of light!

So make sure you have a SPF to hand at all times because sun exposure can lead to skin damage, premature ageing and, in some cases, skin cancer. Invest in skin-benefiting products that offer additional sun protection, I recommend the Perricone MD Photo Plasma SPF30 (£59 feelunique.com).

This hero anti-aging moisturiser hydrates the skin, whilst protecting it from environmental aggressors and UVA and UVB damage. It is incredibly lightweight and oil free, so you don't suffer with that heavy and tacky feeling other SPFs can bring. I've been a fan of this moisturiser for years - it keeps my skin healthy, hydrated and glowing.
