Valentine's Day is around the corner and, although I hate it, I know some of y'all will be looking for gift ideas. Now fuck chocolate - us bitches need to get our summer bodies asap - and forget flowers - they last for all of one week and cost a stupid amount of money. You'd be better taking the £60 you were going to spend on roses and buying your bae a fragrance. After all, who doesn't love a beautiful scent that will last?! So I've rounded up some of the best fragrances to buy your boo this VDay...
The first fragrance on the list comes from Elie Saab, one brand that really knows how to create unique, beautiful perfumes. And the new scent, Le Parfum in White (£61 theperfumeshop.com), is just another great example. Inspired by the fashion designer's 2011 scent, Le Parfum, Le Parfum in white contains top notes of red berries and orange blossom, heart notes of jasmine and base notes of patchouli, white amber and white musk. It is a beautiful floral scent that has good lasting power and a uniqueness that will make your girl standout.Another great newbie is the Marc Jacobs Daisy Twinkle (£55 theperfumeshop.com), which is a limited version of the designer's much-loved Daisy fragrance. Containing top notes of red berries and violet leaf, heart notes of violet and white flowers and base notes of white woods, this eau de toilette scent is sweet and woody without being too sickly. It has a good projection and great lasting power.
I also recommend the gorgeous Black Opium EDT (£60 Debenhams) from YSL. This new fragrance is an eau de toilette version of the popular Black Opium EDP. However, unexpectedly, this fragrance doesn't carry all the same notes as its predecessor. Its top notes include blackcurrant, pear, green madarin and citrus, its heart notes include jasmine, tea, orange blossom and coffee and its base notes include white musk and white wood. It is a more citrusy version of its predecessor and I love it equally. Like all YSL scents, I find it has great lasting power and always earns me a lot of compliments (and you know a girl loves compliments...).
If your girl loves all things floral, hook her up with Gucci Bloom (£72 feelunique.com), the beautiful floral fragrance that launched late last year. Alberto Morillas is the nose behind the scent, a legendary perfumer who we have to thank for Carolina Herrera 212, Flower By Kenzo, Marc Jacobs Daisy and Versace Bright Crystal. Bloom contains notes of jasmine sambac, tuberose, orris root and honeysuckle, all of which work together to create a ultra-feminine scent that has incredible projection and staying power. Another great floral option is the new Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Florale (£68 theperfumeshop.com), which follows the fragrance house's much-loved Mon Guerlain that launched last year. This new sensual scent contains top notes of lavender and bergamot, heart notes of jasmin sambac, peony, neroli and other floral notes and base notes of sandalwood, iris and vanilla.

Now if you're look for a more affordable option, I recommend the new Rosie For Autograph Rose Gold (£28 M&S). It is a limited edition fragrance that was created to celebrate five years of Rose for Autograph. It contains top notes of bergamot, star anise, black pepper and coriander, heart notes of rose, freesia and dew drop and base notes of amber, vanilla and musk. This eau de parfum is a sweet floral scent that suits just about anyone. It is also £28 for 75ml, making it even more appealing. Another great option if you're dealing with a smaller budget is The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom (£15 thebodyshop.com). This eau de toilette is fresh and floral, containing notes of apple, magnolia, cherry blossom and hinoki wood and costing just £15 for 50ml.
My final favourite (and the most luxury scent on the list) is the new Trish McEvoy 100 (£155 Selfridges). This oriental floral fragrance launched last year and is the creation of Honorine Blanc, the master perfumer behind Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, La Perla La Mia Perla and Lancome La Nuit Trésor À La Folie. This high-end scent contains top notes of litchi and blackberry leaf, heart notes of jasmine, rose and cypriol oil and base notes of tonka bean, leather, cedar, ambroxan and musk. I consider this the best Trish McEvoy fragrance to date, I'm that obsessed. It is long lasting, elegant and ultra-feminine and, interestingly, seems to take on a slightly different scent with each woman.
