Celebrating Scents

national-fragrance-week-review

If you give a shit about beautiful scents, you will know that the world celebrated National Fragrance Day last week. I would've celebrated but, well, I completely forgot (I'm a bad beauty blogger after all...). However I thought it was a good time to give you a fragrance update and share what scents I've been dowsing myself in over these past few months.

One of my favourites is Flower By Kenzo Eau Florale (from £53.00 theperfumeshop.com / $72.00 Sephora), a new take on an old classic that contains top notes of grapefruit and mandarin, middle notes of peony and Bulgarian rose and base notes of musk and vanilla. It is a limited-edition fragrance that carries a lively, fresh and feminine scent. It packs a real punch with great staying power to match! If that isn't enough, the beautiful poppy-embossed bottle it's contained in is to die for...

Lancome's La Vie est Belle Florale (from £49.00 Boots / $69.00 lancome-usa.com) is another recent obsession. Following on from La Vie Est Belle - the brand's hero 2012 fragrance - this newbie is "floral, yet crystalline and fruity", inviting a rare floral note into the mix; Osmanthus. Osmanthus is an Asian flower that embodies self-knowledge, happiness and self-expression. Additional notes in this seriously powerful perfume include bergamot, pink pepper, pear, blackcurrant bud, jasmine, orange blossom, rose, magnolia, mimosa, violet, iris, patchouli and musk.

My next fragrance fancy is the Givenchy Live Irresistible (from £49.50 Debenhams / $70.00 Sephora), the latest scent in the Irresistible collection. Containing top notes of pineapple, rose petals, grapefruit and tangerine, middle notes of rose pepper and passionfruit and base notes of amber, musk, orris, praline, patchouli and vanilla, this fragrance is floral, fruity and spicy. Like all fragrances in the Irresistible collection, Live Irresistible is long lasting and only requires a little spritz to make a serious impact.

Now, as much as I've been loving the above scents, the one fragrance I've become absolutely addicted to is the new limited-edition Michael Kors Coral (from £39.00 Boots / $90.00 ULTA). This floral and fruity fragrance contains top notes of lemon, pink grapefruit, mandarin, blackcurrant and pink pepper, heart notes of raspberry, orange flower, tuberose and jasmine and base notes and ambrox, cedarwood, sandalwood and musk. Available in an eau de parfum, this scent lasts throughout the day and continues to make an impact late into the evening. It is the perfect statement summer fragrance!
