What inspired you to work in the hairdressing industry? And how did your career journey begin?
The idea of being involved in a creative career excited me. The father of my best friend at school owned a salon where I would assist at the weekends and school holidays, it was the buzz of the salon that hooked me.
What is your career highlight?
I have had many fabulous moments to date. My role with Sassoon is a varied one, from looking after the UK creative team to teaching hairdressers across the globe. As well as this, there have been so many great opportunities to work at Fashion Week season after season and also create key looks for editorial shoots.
It is all of these different aspects of my career that resulted in me being awarded Hairdresser of the Year in 2012, which was an amazing honour.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to succeed in the industry?
Study hard and absorb the talents of your coaches. It takes dedication and focus to become an expert, with many rewards at the end of it. Never stop learning and enjoy the journey.
Who is the ultimate beauty icon?
There have been many icons of beauty, but for me the birth of the supermodels in the 1990’s turned my head, this was a massive moment for me. Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista stunning beauty stands alone.
What are your hair and beauty essentials?
I have many fabulous tools and products in my kit but I think the mind and your hands are unique and individual to us all.
What is the biggest hair crime a person can commit?
The lack of suitability! The hairstyle has to fit the individuals style and body form.
What is your top hair tip?
Remember it’s your most worn accessory, make sure you give it the time, care and focus it deserves.
