Review: Dior Hydra Life Deep Sorbet Water Essence & Fresh Hydration Sorbet Cream

I've always been a big fan of Dior makeup but when it came to the brand's skincare, I'm was a straight virgin. However I recently popped my cherry and tried two of the brand's newest skincare launches, the Hydra Life Deep Sorbet Water Essence and Hydra Life Fresh Hydration Sorbet Cream (aka the perfect skincare partnership)...

Dior's Hydra Life collection is designed to deeply hydrate and illuminate skin, whilst also making it resilient to environmental damage. What's impressive is that it does this using 83% natural ingredients, which are contained in environmentally-responsible packaging. In an effort to protect our planet, Dior removed all unnecessary components from its packaging (leaflets, cellophane etc), decreased the weight of glass and used inks from (predominantly) natural origin. The whole collection features a wide range of skincare products, from exfolitors and creams to mask and cleansers, however because I was after instant, long lasting hydration, I reached for the serum and moisturiser.

The Dior Hydra Life Deep Sorbet Water Essence (£45.50 houseoffraser.co.uk / $73.00 Sephora) is a water-based serum that glides across the skin like water, instantly refreshing the fuck out of me as it goes. It is dispensed from a pump that only brings up a tiny amount of product per pump, which is massively beneficial as it prevents me from apply too much product - I only need four pumps worth to cover my entire face and neck. The lightweight essence is formulated with mallow and haberlea leaf, two ingredients found to boost collagen and elastin production, stimulate antioxidant skin defenses and enhance skin radiance.

As for the Dior Hydra Life Fresh Hydration Sorbet Cream (£45.50 houseoffraser.co.uk / $69.00 Neiman Marcus), it is a gel-cream that feels more like a lightweight lotion on the skin than a traditional face cream - it reminds me of the Perricone MD Cold Plasma, only thicker! Like the Sorbet Water Essence, only a small amount of Sorbet Cream is required per application and, once applied, it absorbs into the skin incredibly quickly. It instantly hydrates my skin, keeping it that way throughout the day, and sits perfectly under makeup which is an added bonus.

I have been using both the Sorbet Water Essence and Sorbet Cream for the past few weeks and can't imagine life without them. I haven't experienced much change in the firmness of my skin, however I have noticed a great improvement in my skin's overall hydration level which, in turn, has reduced the appearance of fine lines! Yas kween!
