The American Horror Story actress met the German doctor through a mutual friend and, after trying her original skincare line, wanted to work with her to create a spin-off range focused on darker skin tones. The range took two years of research to create and it features purslane as its hero ingredient - a powerful herb that treats both inflammation and uneven skin tone. Purslane also carries great anti-ageing benefits, which is a massive win for us bitches wanting eternal (looking) youth.
One of Bassett's main reasons for creating the range is to get people to become more aware of their skin and understand what ingredients work best for them. "I like them to be pleased when they look in the mirror, to feel good about themselves and the condition of their complexion.” Bassett told WWD.
On the other hand, Sturm's focus was all about inflammation. She explained, “It is, to me, the key factor to causing any skin problems or any problems in our body, but also it is mainly responsible for ageing. So I was always very interested in anti-inflammation. Since African-American, or skin of colour, problems [revolve] mainly [around] inflammation that is why I especially took care in this range. It has real ingredients, which are scientifically shown to address inflammation”.
The five-product range includes a face cream, rich face cream, foam cleanser, enzyme cleanser and hyaluronic serum. It is priced between £40.00 and £230.00 and will be exclusively available at Harrods from July!!
