The Tuesday Tip: Bacteria-Free Brushes

A makeup brush can be your best friend, as well as your frenemy. Brushes can make cosmetic application an absolute dream, however did you know that they can rapidly accumulate bacteria, dust and dirt? Well they can girls, so start shitting yourself...

What's The Beau(Tee)? | Lancome Launch Teint Idole Ultra Wear Lifeproof Collection

Lancôme is one of just a handful of cosmetics brands offering up a truly wide foundation shade range. The foundation in question is the Teint Idole Ultra Wear and it is available in 40 different shades. It was a huge successful for the brand, and rightly-fucking-so (I'm a huge fan - you can see my review here). So successful, in fact, that it was inspiration for the cosmetic giant's new collection, Teint Idole Ultra Wear Lifeproof.

Interview: Jenny Duong | PR Manager @ Feelunique.com

Feelunique.com is, by far, by favourite online beauty destination. It stocks an incredible number of brands - including niche faves - and is packed with interesting content and offers. It is the OG of online beauty retail and will forever be my go-to site when I'm in need of a skincare or makeup fix. Everyone at feelunique.com HQ is pretty dope but one of my favourites is Jenny Duong, Senior PR & Communications Manager.

I recently got the chance to grill Jenny on everything from her career highlights to beauty must-haves! Here's how it went down...

Weekly Worship: L'Oréal Professionnel Source Essentielle

L’Oréal Professionnel recently launched Source Essentielle, an entirely vegan haircare brand that is free free from sulfates, silicones, parabens, synthetic fragrance and colourings, and packaged in refillable bottles. I was luckily enough to get my hands on the entire range and I've become a true fan...

What's The Beau(Tee)? | Batiste Goes Beyond Basic

For me, Batiste will always be the OG of dry shampoos. I have used their original dry shampoo for years – not just for masking the dirt and grease that accumulates in my locks, but for texture and thickness. However, although the brand has continued to release new and innovative hair products, the British brand’s latest launch switches up the dry shampoo game…

Grooming: MUGLER Alien Man Review

Thierry Mugler's Alien has remained a cult fragrance since its launch in 2005. It is so popular, in fact, that it's surprising the new male counterpart took over 10 years to land. MUGLER Alien Man launched in May 2018 with expectations higher than Robert Downey Jr pre-comeback. But has it lived up to the hype?!

Ask TBI: Stop My Nail Polish Chipping!

Question: My nail polish always chips after only a few days of applying it. What am I doing wrong? - Daniella, London.

Answer: It is likely that your nails have a tiny amount of oil left on them when you apply polish. When nails are not cleaned correctly, dirt and oil is left behind. This prevents the basecoat from sticking to the nail properly, causing it to flake away and take the nail polish with it.

The Beauty Myth: Avoid Conditioner If You Have Greasy Hair

False. Greasy hair is caused by the overproduction of sebum on the scalp. Sebum is an oily/waxy substance that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in our skin. When the overproduction of sebum occurs on the scalp, the scalp will become oily and hair will look greasy.

Home Beauty | Desenio

As y'all know, I am in love with all things beauty. However this love isn't just reserved for the beauty counters. I'm also obsessed with creating and maintaining beauty in the home. I moved into my very first flat last year and have spent the last six months transforming it into the kind of space I am inspired by.

The Beauty Myth: Pores Are Shrinkable

False. The idea that pores are shrinkable is just complete bullshit. Sorry, girls!

Pore sizes are genetically determined and, as much as people may say otherwise, you simply can’t make them smaller. It's just not that simple...

The Tuesday Tip: Stop Being Flaky!

Do you suffer with mascara flakiness? Often ending the day with more mascara around your eyes than on your lashes? If so, your mascara has most likely expired and you need to throw it out!

Once a mascara expires, it loses it staying power and becomes difficult to apply. However that isn't the worst of it - expired mascara also puts the eyes at risk of infection....

The Sunshine Scents

I love fragrances and am a big believer in bringing out different scents for different moods, events and seasons. I'm clearly not alone in my thinking, as Andrea Rickard, Trading Director at The Perfume Shop, explains, “While perfume choices depend on the person, their mood and often the occasion we do see a small shift in sales as shoppers opt for much lighter fragrances with ingredients such as citrus and zesty notes which make us feel revitalised and fresh in the spring and summer.”

So, with spring in full effect and summer just around the corner, it's time to start switching up your scent stash. Here are some of my favourites..

Now I know what you're thinking, "She done already done had herses". After all, RuPaul was the first face of MACs VIVA GLAM campaign back in 1994. However, let's be real, that wasn't a true makeup collection and it's very existence has only helped wet our appetite for more...

Weekly Worship | bareMinerals, Buxom, NeoStrata & Skyn Iceland

After a few months of congested skin, I've been focusing on cleansing correctly. I now double cleanse my skin every night - regardless or whether I'm wearing much makeup. My first cleanse is done with the bareMinerals Total Cleansing Oil (£22 feelunique.com) - a miracle makeup remover that takes everything off in a matter of seconds. Unlike other cleansing oils I'm used to, this one has a beautiful aromatherapy scent that helps get you relaxed and ready for bed. A surprisingly small amount of product is needed per use and the oil rinses off easily and completely, ensuring that no nasty residue is left behind. For my second cleanse, I use my favourite Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser (£24.99 feelunique.com).

The Beauty Myth | Washing Hair In Very Hot Water

False. I've always been guilty of washing my hair with very hot water. Unlike some, this isn't because I think it'll provide a more intensive wash, but simply because I love hot showers and only wash my hair when I'm in one.

Review: YSL Instant Moisture Glow

If you have your eyes on the beauty world, you'll know that YSL has been putting a big focus on complexion. The Beauty Myth: You Should Cut Your Cuticles

False. Your cuticles are there for a reason - and a good one at that. They protect the developing nail and surrounding skin from bacteria, so cutting your cuticles is definitely not a good idea. Doing so will heavily increase the chance of infection and, in case you didn't know, infections in and around the nail bed are not only unsightly, they are very painful.

What's The Beau(Tee)? | Ardell Introduces Makeup Collection

I've said it before and I'll goddamn say it again, Ardell is the ultimate false lash brand. There are a wide range of styles, at affordable prices, and every lash band is thin and flexible - making application easy and the finished look more natural. My love for the 45-year-old brand is so strong, that I've always longed for (and if I'm honest, expected) Ardell to launch a full makeup range. Luckily for me, and the entire world, I'm now able to tell you that my wishes have come true. Ardell has a makeup collection and it is available right now...

Behind The Brand | IMAGE

Date of Birth: 2003

Founding Mother: Janna Ronert

History: IMAGE Skincare started out of Janna Ronert's tiny apartment in 2003. She was an aesthetician who was battling rosacea but unable to find adequate products on the market that would provide real results and treat the problem. So, like all good beauty entrepreneurs, she decided to create her own cosmeceutical brand. She poured blood, sweat and tears into creating IMAGE and her first collection was Vital C, which remains the brand's top seller today.

Behind The Brand | Nudestix

Date of Birth: 2014

Founding Mothers: Jenny, Taylor and Ally Frankel

History: Nudestix is an innovative beauty brand that was the brainchild of sisters Ally and Taylor Frankel... when they were just teenagers (before Kylie Jenner, I should add!). The girls were fans of effortless, natural looking makeup. They longed for colour cosmetics that accentuated their best features, rather than make them look overdone or artificial, so they set out creating their own.
